Objective:
The students will create pictures with sand and glue.

Materials

• Construction Paper

• Sand

• Glue

• Trays or and area to catch the sprinkled sand

Procedure

1. Pass out the paper, sand and glue.

2. Have the students "draw" a picture or design using the glue.  They should then sprinkle sand over their drawing.  The sand will adhere to the glued areas to create a sand picture.

Other Lesson Ideas

1. Have the students create beach towel designs on rectangular pieces of paper.  They may use crayons, markers, paint, colored pencils, torn paper, or fabric scraps to create their "beach towel".

2. The students may create a beach scene by gluing real sand and shells onto paper.  The rest of the scene may be done with crayons, marker, or paint.
