for Pumpkin Day
Objective:
The students
will create an art work using mosaic technique.
|
Materials
- Pumpkin seeds died a
variety of colors (You must do this ahead of time so
the seeds are dry) (Use vinegar, water, and food
coloring)
- Heavy art paper
- Glue
- Pencils

Procedure
- Show a partial mosaic you
have start ahead of time. Explain to the students how
a pencil drawing guides the
placement of seeds.
- Using a pencil, the
students should make an outline of the pattern or
picture they want to create.
- The students then apply
the colored seeds to create their own original mosaic.

Other
Lesson Ideas
- Have each student
paint a
small pumpkin using tempera paint.
- Using green string for
vines and yellow tissue paper, have the students make a
pumpkin vine with blooms.
- Experiment with color
mixing using (primary colors only) tempera or
watercolor paint. Try to make green (vine color) and
orange (pumpkin) color.
