One

Variety
of art supplies - construction paper, fabric,
cardboard, toothpicks, etc.

Procedure
-
Allow
the students to create a face on their potatoes using
any variety of art supplies provided. They may
adhere the eyes, nose, etc. on to the potato by using
glue, toothpicks, or push pins. They may also

|
Other
Lesson Ideas
-
Make
potato prints. Use the one of the following
books as a starting point for ideas: One Potato: A
Counting Book of Potato Prints or Wildflower
ABC: An Alphabet of Potato Prints both by Diana
Pomeroy.
-
Read
Cloudy With a Chance Of Meatballs by Judi
Barrett. At the end of the book there is a
reference to a hill of snow looking like a mound of
mashed potatoes. Have the students draw scenery
using other foods as a basis. For example, trees
may look like broccoli, etc.
