Art Lesson
for Ice Cream Day
Objective:
The students will design a label for
their created flavor of ice cream.
|
Materials
-
Samples
of empty ice cream cartons (or pictures of them).
-
Construction
paper
-
Markers,
crayons, colored pencils, etc.
|
Procedure
-
Share
the examples of the various ice cream cartons.
Discuss the names of the ice cream brands and their
flavors. Point out any pictures or designs on
the labels.

Give
each child a piece of construction paper to design
with their own creation of a brand and flavor.
The students should use the markers, crayons, etc. to
design the label.

Other
Lesson Ideas
-
Have
the students create an ice cream cone or sundae using
a variety of materials. Fabric scraps, cotton
balls, felt, etc. may all add to the interest of their
creations.

Have
the students make creations from ice cream bar sticks
(or use craft sticks).
-
To
be combined with the Movement Lesson, have the
students create a poster of different ice cream
flavors they would like to sell at their pretend ice
cream shop.
