for Apple Day
Objective:
The
students will observe, compare, and contrast dried apple
pieces and fresh apple pieces.

Materials
|
Procedure
-
Give
each student or pair of students a dried apple piece
and a fresh apple piece.
-
Depending
on the age of the students, either discuss the
similarities and differences within their pair or as a whole
class. Have them record their observations on
the Worksheet.
-
Once
the observations have been made, question the students
as to why the 2 pieces are different. What does
the fresh piece contain that the dried piece does not?

Lesson Ideas
-
Examine
apple seeds and read a book on how apple seeds grow in
to apple trees.

Plant an
apple seed on Apple Day and watch what happens in the
coming weeks.

Make
applesauce.
