Lesson
for Earth Day
Objective:
The
students will create a collage of what they love about the
planet Earth.
|
Materials
- Old Magazines (preferably
nature magazines)
- Glue
- Scissors
- A large piece of butcher
paper, with the outline of a circle (representing
earth).

Procedure
- Discuss the planet Earth
and all it's components - water, land, animals,
people, plants, etc.
- Discuss the term
collage. Explain to the students how they will
be working together to create a collage of what they
love about the planet Earth.
- Have the students cut out
pictures of things they love about the Earth.
(If magazines are not available, they may create their
own pictures of what they love about earth and then
cut them out to be placed on the butcher paper.)
- Create the collage by
gluing the pictures inside the circle on the butcher
paper. Give the collage a title and hang it in
the classroom for all to view.

Other
Lesson Ideas
- Have the students make
posters encouraging others to take care of the
earth. For example; "Don't Litter",
"Recycle", "Don't Pollute", etc.
- Have the students make an
invention out of recycled objects.
