Banana Day

Objective:
The students will jump rope to jump rope rhymes.

Materials

• The book Anna Banana: 101 Jump-Rope Rhymes by Joanna Cole

• Jump Ropes

Procedure

1. Share some of the jump rope rhymes out of the book and have the children jump rope to ones they select.

2. If the book is not available to you, work as a class to make up a jump rope rhyme using the word banana.

Other Lesson Ideas

1. Have the students play "Hot Banana", similar to "Hot Potato".

2. Have relay races using a banana as the baton.

3. Pretend you are monkeys and act out climbing trees and eating bananas.
