Movement Lesson
for Train Day
Objective:
The students will create a human
train.
|
Materials
|
Procedure
-
Have
the students get in a line. They should place
their hands on the shoulders of the person in front of
them.
-
Discuss
that the speed of their train will be set by the
clapping of the teacher's hands. The students
should shuffle their feet in the rhythm of the
teacher's clapped hands.

The
teacher should begin with a slow, steady clap and
slowly increase the speed, just as a starting train
would move.

The
students will need to work together to keep in step
with the rhythm set by the teacher.

Lesson Ideas

Sing
any number of train songs, such as "I've Been
Working on the Railroad." Use the following

Have
the students participate in dramatic play. Line
up chairs to a form a train. Have the students
utilize play "tickets" for boarding the
train. Once everyone is "aboard", they
may sing train songs.
