Art
Lesson
for Tooth Day
Objective:
The
students will design a label for their created brand of
toothpaste.
|
Materials
- Pictures or actual boxes
from various brands of toothpaste
- Cutouts of sturdy paper in
either the rectangle shape of a toothpaste box or the
shape of a toothpaste tube (you may want to make these
shapes much larger than an actual toothpaste box/tube,
especially for younger children)
- Paint, markers, crayons,
colored pencils, etc.
|
Procedure
-
Show the
students the various boxes/pictures of toothpaste
packaging. Talk about how the companies want the
packaging to be appealing so people will buy the
product.
-
Either as a
class, or individually, the students can think up a
name for their brand of toothpaste.
-
Have them
design the packaging for the toothpaste using the
mediums provided.
|
Other
Lesson Ideas
-
Paint with
toothbrushes.
-
Make and
decorate pouches out of felt, for storing lost teeth.
If felt is not available, design/decorate envelopes
for keeping lost teeth. The students may want to
take them home to place teeth under their pillows for
the tooth fairy.
-
Design wings
for the tooth fairy. This can be done with any
variety of materials - water colors, glitter,
left-over craft supplies (such as buttons, pieces of
fabric, etc.)
