Objective:

The students will list facts about stars.

Materials

• A nonfiction book about stars or a link to the following sites http://tqjunior.thinkquest.org/3645/stars_sun.html or  http://www.astronomy.com/content/static/AstroForKids/sun.asp.

• Chart paper or chalkboard

• Star Shape

• Black butcher paper

Procedure

1. Ask the students what they know about stars.  List their responses on the chart paper.

2. Read the chosen nonfiction book or share information from one of the above web sites.

3. Ask the students anything new they have learned about stars and list those on the paper as well.

4. For reinforcement pass out a star shape and have each student list a star fact on the paper.  Attach these star facts to a black piece of butcher paper in a random design, or in the form of a constellation.
