Movement
Lesson
for Rock Day
Objective:
The students will
participate in a game of "Turn to Rock".
|
Materials
- Music
- A wide open space allowing for movement
|
Procedure
-
Explain to the students that there will be
music playing. They should dance and move about while the music is
playing. Once the music stops (done by the teacher), they should
"turn to stone" by freezing their movement.
|
Other
Lesson Ideas
- Play a rock toss game. This may be
combined with a math lesson. Have small rocks available and either
containers (such as plastic bowls) labeled with numbers, or chalked off
numbers. The students
should toss the rocks into the containers, or areas, and add up their
"score".
- Play Hopscotch, using a small rock as the
marker.
- Play Hot Potato with a rock.
