for Popcorn Day
Objective:
The
students will create a picture using popped corn and corn
kernels.

Materials

Heavy weight
paper

popped
popcorn

kernels

glue

markers

pencils

Procedure
-
Discuss
using popcorn and popcorn kernels to create a
picture. For example, popped corn could be
snowflakes, the eyes on a face, heads of flowers,
etc. Popcorn kernels could be teeth on a face,
raindrops, buds on a tree, etc. The age of the
students will dictate the amount of assistance needed
in brainstorming ideas.

Pass out the
paper, popcorn, kernels, and any other art materials.

Have the
students create pictures in which they incorporate the
popcorn and kernels.

Other
Lesson Ideas
-
Make shakers
using paper plates stapled together with popcorn
kernels inside. The students may decorate the
paper plates before assembling the shakers.
